The Talbot County Council met June 21, 2024, with the Burn Ban Committee and have instituted a 30 day burn ban for all of Talbot County, including cities and towns.

Talbot County is currently classified by the National Climatic Data Center as experiencing abnormally dry conditions with the potential for worsening drought conditions. The forecast shows no significant precipitation in the near future, and excessively hot conditions are predicted, with potential heat indices around 105 degrees. These factors significantly increase the fire risk. Talbot County has already experienced a recent spate of field fires and the burn ban is a proactive measure to minimize future fires.
